Le CEIPI organise, du 24 au 25 février 2011, un colloque au Parlement européen de Strasbourg sur le thème « Constructing European Intellectual Property : Achievements and new perspectives », sous la direction de Christophe Geiger, directeur général du CEIPI et sous le patronage de Catherine Trautmann, députée européenne et d'Alain Beretz, Président de l'Université de Strasbourg.

Ce colloque est organisé dans le cadre du 12ème congrès de l'European Intellectual Property Institutes Network (EIPIN) dont les membres sont : le CEIPI, le Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute de l'Université de Londres, le Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) et le Magister Lucentinus de l'Université d'Alicante.

La construction du droit de la propriété intellectuelle en Europe soulève de nombreuses questions fondamentales auxquelles ce colloque se propose de répondre.

Dans cette perspective, le CEIPI a réuni un panel de grands spécialistes de la question provenant des universités et instituts de recherche européens les plus prestigieux et des institutions européennes et offices européens de la propriété intellectuelle. Ces spécialistes dresseront tout d'abord un état des lieux de la propriété intellectuelle en Europe et s'interrogeront ensuite sur son développement.
